During the summer months, Bellows Beach Park is a great retreat for many swimmers and people learning to body surf, body board, and surf. The beach here is similar to Kailua Beach and Lanikai Beach; small sized beaches and fine, soft sand. History
Bellows Beach Park is next to Bellows Field which is a United States military reservation. It was one of the airfields on Oahu that was attacked during the events of December 7, 1941 when Pearl Harbor was devastated by a Japanese attack. Now some of the land on the military reservation is reserved for Marine Corps training, creating the only place in Hawaii where amphibious landings can transition directly into land-based maneuver training.
